Elizabeth W. Brown, 90, of Kennett Square, a lifelong resident of Kennett Square, passed away at Pocopson Home in West Chester.
Born in Kennett Square, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Ida Webster Brown. Betty was a self-employed domestic engineer. She was a lifetime member of Bethel AME Church in Kennett Square and was active in the Missionary Society. Betty volunteered at the VA Hospital for over 50 years, and she constantly visited the sick and shut-ins as well the sick in the local nursing homes. She had a great sense of humor and was inspirational to all who knew her, both young and old. She is survived by a sister, Ruth M. Brown of Kennett Square. She was predeceased by one brother, James Walker Brown, Sr. You are invited to visit with Betty's family and friends on Wednesday, March 4, 2009 from 9 to 11 a.m. at Bethel AME Church, 300 E. Linden St., Kennett Square.
At Betty's request there will not be a viewing. Her funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Union Hill Cemetery.
